The Actor's Way, A Process, Path & Journey for the Actor

(This class is full. Please check back in January when we will begin a new section of The Actor’s Way. )

The Actor's Way is where all my teaching and coaching will be focussed. If you want to work with me live come to The Actor's Way. It is a wholistic, gentle but rigorous, disciplined and playful approach to Actor training from a teacher who creates (not just relates) tools&techniques, craft and process for Actors. The focus is on training, coaching and developing your own process as you learn different aspects of the craft using 3 simple principles and eventually applying them to practice on-camera. Having an understanding of the craft, along with your own unique rituals and processes to developing a character, preparing for auditions or interviews, and allowing your creative being to flow is extremely empowering and an important part of being a successful Actor. The Actor's Way is a path for each individual to take time to discover, uncover and evolve the path and process for themselves and their Actor.

Each month we explore each of the topics below, in sequence, building on our (self-) knowledge from session to session. The commentary and practice is centred around acting and auditioning for the camera, although occasionally we use examples of stage as well since many Actors move between stage and screen. We begin with:

Breathing (B) - when you are nervous is your breathing flow-based or ragged. Amped up or held, constricted, frozen? How do you adjust it to enhance and improve your audition?

Being (B) - do you listen actively or simply hear passively when you are on set or on stage? What do you listen for? Why? Does your process have a sense of flow, or does it judder along haphazardly.

Connecting (C) - how intentional is your process, practice or preparation for auditioning or being on set? For how long are you able to remain in an intentional space without becoming rigid, detached or unnatural?

Technique. (T) On-Camera Training or an Acting Technique as it applies to acting for the camera.

Actor's Clinic is the haven inside the safe-haven. Between 6.30-7.00pm, during the Actor's relax'n'prep period, Actor's can have a quick 1-1 with me to discuss an Actor 'thing', from Anxiety to Zombies, (perhaps angst about zombies?!). The Actor's Clinic is a space to get guidance and or advice quickly. It works on a first-come-first served, basis with 5-10 mins per person if there are others waiting. "if the chair is empty", take a seat. Actor's Clinic is for the benefit of members taking the Actor's Way.

All course materials are provided in session. Actors bring the following to each session: yoga mat (or blanket), journal and something to write with. Devices are NOT allowed in the session to take notes with. Bring water.
